Level 2: Make your own shorts or pants!
Ready to level up your sewing skills? In this intermediate workshop, you’ll follow a commercial sewing pattern to create a pair of elasticated shorts or pants. Choose your preferred length – from cute short shorts to full-length pants. Learn how to confidently cut, sew, and finish your garment using techniques you can repeat at home.
You’ll need some sewing experience for this one – participants must know how to thread and operate a sewing machine independently. If you’re not quite there yet, check out our Sewing for Beginners class first!
Project: A pair of elastic waist shorts or pants in your choice of length: Short shorts, Bermuda, Knee-length, Ankle-length or Full-length pants.

- All tools, fabric and thread provided

- This class is open to everyone aged 18+ who has basic sewing experience.
- You’ll need to know how to confidently thread and operate a sewing machine – if you’re unsure, start with our Sewing for Beginners class.
- Expect a friendly and inclusive space where everyone’s welcome – regardless of age, gender or background.
- Come solo or bring a friend!
- Fabric is not included – you’ll need to purchase your own fabric before the class, or buy from us on the day. We’ll send you a detailed shopping list with tips on how much to buy (depending on whether you’re making shorts or pants) and where to find suitable options.
- Machine hire, thread and tools are included
- Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to settle in
- Closed-toe shoes are recommended for your safety
- This class includes a 30-minute break, you’re welcome to bring lunch, or pop out to a local cafe
- Our pattern covers hip sizes 88cm to 128cm. If you’re outside of this range, feel free to contact us so we can chat about alternatives.

- Rescheduling with more than 7 days’ notice: free of charge
- Rescheduling with less than 7 days’ notice: $50 per person rescheduling fee
- Rescheduling with less than 24 hours’ notice: no reschedule or refund available
