Level 4: Learn to Hem Your Clothes
Learn how to hem your own clothes with confidence in this focused, hands-on workshop. Whether it’s a skirt that’s too long, a dress sitting at an awkward length, or a pair of pants you’re turning into shorts – we’ll show you how to hem them properly using a sewing machine.
This isn’t a class for total beginners. To get the most out of this session, you’ll need to have completed our Level 1–3 sewing classes or be confident managing a sewing machine independently. That means you’ll need to know how to thread and set up your machine, sew unaided, and have successfully sewn at least two garments using commercial patterns. If you’re unsure whether this is the right fit for you, feel free to get in touch before booking.
In the three-hour session, most people complete one to two garments. We recommend bringing along 3–4 options, just in case some aren’t suitable for the session. You’ll leave with practical hemming skills and a renewed sense of “I can fix that” energy.

- Most people come solo to this class, so if you’re thinking about booking on your own, chances are you won’t be the only one. Our teachers are warm, friendly, and always make sure solo guests feel welcome and supported.
- We welcome all genders and identities in our inclusive space.
- We can’t hem extremely thick fabrics or materials that require an industrial machine (e.g. leather, denim jackets, heavy curtains).
- Please don’t bring large formal gowns, wedding dresses, or anything requiring significant space – these need to be booked into a private session.
- Most people complete 1-2 garments in the session. We recommend bringing 3-4 options, just in case some aren’t suitable or take more time than expected.
- This workshop focuses on hems only – if you’re after other types of alterations, a private lesson will be more suitable.
