What you'll learn
What you’ll learn in your private session depends entirely on your goals, experience level, and the complexity of your project. Whether you’re working on a garment from scratch, trying to perfect a tricky technique, or just need help getting started, your instructor will tailor the session to suit you.
- Use of our sewing machines and overlockers
- Access to professional sewing tools – fabric scissors, rotary cutters, unpickers, rulers, pressing tools, and more
- Small extras like interfacing, calico for test runs, or elastic included when needed
- One-on-one support from a skilled sewing instructor, tailored to your project and experience level
- A spacious, dedicated workstation set up just for you
- Pattern tracing paper, calico for testing fit (if needed), and basic threads provided
- Complimentary tea, coffee, water, and cookies
- A comfortable and inspiring studio environment in Redfern
- This class is open to everyone aged 13+, and you don’t need any prior sewing experience.
- Suitable for anyone looking to work on a specific project with one-on-one guidance, or for those who simply prefer learning in a private setting over group workshops. Our instructors are warm, friendly, and tailor the session to support your individual goals – no matter your skill level.
- We welcome all genders and identities in our inclusive space.
- Private sewing classes are minimum 3 hours. If you’d like to book a longer session (4+ hours), just get in touch and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
- It’s easy to underestimate how long sewing takes. Depending on your project, you may need multiple sessions to complete it.
- You may need to bring your own fabric, pattern, notions or trims, depending on your project
- If you’re unsure what to bring, we’re happy to help you prepare
- We’ll match you with an instructor who best suits your needs and goals
- Closed-toe shoes are recommended for your safety
- You’re welcome to bring your own sewing machine, or use one of ours. If you’re bringing your own machine, it must either be brand new or have been serviced within the last 12 months by a reputable sewing machine technician.
- Our studio unfortunately isn’t wheelchair accessible. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.
Due to high demand and limited class sizes, all bookings are final and non-refundable. We’re happy to reschedule your booking as long as it meets the conditions below:
- Rescheduling with more than 7 days’ notice: free of charge
- Rescheduling with less than 7 days’ notice: $50 per person rescheduling fee
- Rescheduling with less than 24 hours’ notice: no reschedule or refund available
